The Point is uniquely situated in Kaikoura, nestled in a bay overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Seaward Kaikoura Mountain Range.

The Point farm originally covered 600 acres of farmland and ran 2000 sheep. Today we have 90 acres and run 300 Drysdale sheep on the farm which forms part of the Kaikoura Peninsula. While staying at The Point come and see the sheep shearing show and catch up with the famous “Ram Man”; he eats out of the palm of your hand.
Enjoy the beauty of the natural landscape of Kaikoura with a walk to the Seal Colony and around th Peninsula walkways.
Kaikoura Campground
The campsite caters for self contained campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Nestled at the base of the foothills on the grounds of the family owned farm, the campsite offers magnificent sea views across the bay and to the mountains beyond. Here at The Point Campsite we are taking camping back to the basics. We offer a quiet, spacious spot to park up for self contained vehicles. And yes, we’re pet friendly.
No powered sites, no toilet blocks, no noisy traffic BUT lots of green grass for the kids or dogs to run around on, a beach across the road for swimming, sand castle building or rock pool exploring, hills to climb for a view well worth it, star gazing with no bright lights the list goes on.
Kaikoura Bed & Breakfast Accommodation
Visitors to The Point Bed & Breakfast will enjoy a good nights sleep in one of our two guest rooms; The Front Room or The Rutherford Room. Both these Queen rooms with everything provided to make your stay with us even more enjoyable. Your hosts, having lived in Kaikoura all their lives, can share local knowledge and offer advice on local attractions, activities and restaurants.
Relax in the garden, sit on the veranda and enjoy the peace and quiet of our rural setting, or take a wander to the beach across the quiet road. If you are an early riser, why not start your day enjoying the panoramic views of the mountains and the sea.
When you wake, indulge in a delicious continental breakfast at our dining table or on the veranda. Breakfast includes a range of cereals, fresh fruit salad, peaches, toast, home-made spreads, honey, optional farm eggs on toast, orange juice and a selection of herbal teas, tea and coffee.
Point Sheep Shearing Show Kaikoura
An “Up Close and Personal” Experience
Come along and sample a true taste of New Zealand sheep shearing. Taking place in an authentic Kiwi shearing shed you will get a taste of traditional sheep shearing including information on wool types, sheep breeds, tools and the techniques and equipment of the past. It’s a must do activity when you stay at the Point Self Contained Campsite or B&B.
Meet the stars of the show…hold a lamb, feed a ram and enjoy the show! Donât forget your camera as there are always plenty of photo opportunities.
All the action takes place in our familyâs third generation shearing shed, come along and soak up the atmosphere of an original New Zealand sheep shearing shed. Meet the dogs Stone & Beau. They will enjoy your company, love the attention and having their photo taken. Suitable for all ages, the show is full of fun and interesting information.
