Camp Maynard offers ideal large group accommodation just 15 minutes north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Located at 101 Paremoremo Road in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore, this Scout camp provides a peaceful bush setting that’s perfect for schools, community groups, retreats, and corporate events.
While the site is primarily used by Scout and Girl Guide groups, the camp facilities are also available for hire by community organisations. Over the years, Camp Maynard has hosted school camps, holiday programmes, craft retreats, training sessions, and corporate functions. Private hire can be arranged depending on the nature of your group. Please note that we do not host 21st birthdays or similar private parties. As the campsite is in a residential area, quiet hours are observed between 11pm and 8am.
Set across 25 acres of sloping land leading down to Lucas Creek, the camp is made up of 85% regenerating native bush, including Kauri. This natural setting creates a tranquil environment while still offering excellent facilities for large group accommodation, training, and recreation. The entire campsite is smoke-free, including all buildings, decks, and grounds.
Camp Maynard is run on a not-for-profit basis by a team of dedicated volunteers, with all funds reinvested into maintaining and upgrading the facilities. Recent improvements include a new laundry room, modernised bathrooms (in progress), a fully renovated commercial-style kitchen with stainless steel fittings, a new roof, and additional bunkroom space.

Accommodation (maximum 60 people)
Our camp can accommodate up to 60 guests, which is also the limit our septic system is designed for. Groups larger than this cannot be accepted.
Sleeping is spread across 8 bunkrooms:
- Bunkroom 0 (Upstairs): Sleeps 6
- Bunkroom 1 (Upstairs): Sleeps 8 (wheelchair accessible)
- Bunkroom 2 (Upstairs): Sleeps 6
- Bunkroom 3 (Downstairs): Sleeps 6 (with private shower)
- Bunkroom 4 (Downstairs): Sleeps 6
- Bunkroom 5 (Downstairs): Sleeps 10
- Bunkroom 6 (Downstairs): Sleeps 10
- Bunkroom 7 (Downstairs): Sleeps 8
All bunk beds have waterproof, fire-retardant, high-density foam mattresses. Guests must bring their own bedding (pillow, blankets or sleeping bag).
