A geothermal walk with a difference, and as itâs name implies, Craters of the Moon is a unique and memorable experience for young and old.
The walk is suited to people of all ages and fitness levels.
See the natural thermal activity of Taupo including bubbling craters, steam vents and colourful soils.
Allow approximately 45 minutes to complete the loop and an additional 15 minutes for the upper lookout (this section is steep and stepped in places but the view is well worth the effort and highly recommended)
Craters of the Moon is situated just north of Taupo and is 1 and 3/4 km’s from State Highway 1.
