Stewart Island Accommodation
Our lodge is all about our guests. Since 2012 we have enjoyed hosting restaurant guests and are very proud to be able to extend that experience to a new level through the lodge.
We love the personal touch and offer our guests a very unique experience on Stewart Island. With the full facilities of the restaurant available to meet your every need we aim to be the discerning travelers best accommodation choice on the Island.
Our lodge offers guests a stand-alone suite that looks out to Halfmoon Bay. Each unit has an en suite and super king size bed. The units are spacious and private while being a very short walk to the restaurant and gardens. The suites have a deck on the front so guests can enjoy the long summer evenings relaxing with a wine or refreshment of their choice.
About our Rooms
Our rooms are all stand-alone and are merely meters from the restaurant, car park, and gardens. Church Hill is a 5 minute walk from the Oban township, ferry terminal and flight center.
Our rooms have views of the bay and beyond and face the sunrise for the perfect wakeup call. Surrounded by the native bush of the Church Hill site the birds are only an arms length away. Many visitors to the Island come for the bird life and from your room you will be able to get some great photographs without getting out of your pajamas or possibly, even out of bed.
- Foveaux – Foveaux is a fully disability accessible room looking out upon the Foveaux Strait. Foveaux has a private area in the front with a wood-fired hot tub accessible from the balcony.
- Kamahi – Kamahi is set among the Kamahi trees and is Deanne’s favourite room with a lovely view of the titi islands and the bay.
- Tokoeka – Tokoeka looks out at the inner bay of Oban with views of the local fishing and pleasure boats and hills of the beautiful township.
Each of our rooms sleep 2 people and offers:
Sky TV and DVD, Wi-fi, tea and coffee making facilities, non-alcoholic refreshments, home baking, in room lounging and more…
Church Hill lodge rooms are non-smoking.
Breakfast is included in the tariff and options range from fully cooked to fruit and cereals.
Guest laundry and drying room
We have a purpose built facility for the guests to use during their stay. It is equipped with a washing machine, dryer, ironing station and tub. We provide all the cleaning agents you will require. Guests are welcome to freshen up their traveling apparel or to dry out the clothing they have been using on their days exploring.
We have also stocked the laundry with beach towels. If you fancy a day at the beach then simply grab a towel and when you return place it in the basket; we will do the rest.

We take evening bookings from 6pm
As a boutique establishment we book a very limited number of guests, and rarely groups larger than 6, especially over the extremely busy months of summer. We have a strong focus on quality over quantity and allow ourselves time to deliver the quality we are known for. This often means many people miss out on getting a booking at the restaurant and we apologise should you find we don’t have a table available at the time you wish.
We are all about Stewart Island and have created our menus to highlight our wonderful region and country. We are very proud of what we offer and never stop striving to be the best we can be.
Evening restaurant booking can only be made no more than 1 month in advance of the booking date.
Should you find your plans change please advise us so we can give your table to another diner.
We are fully licensed and do not offer BYO.
