Architecturally designed one bedroom cottage on our farm in Karaka within a private garden space just for you to make yourselves at home. Adjacent to our home and yet private and peaceful.
Perfect for couples, friends or families wanting peace and quiet and a sampling of a rural lifestyle.
You will have all the comforts of home including a super king bed, tiled bathroom with walk-in shower, washer/dryer, ducted air-con, outdoor dining area and an outdoor bath for 2.
The bedroom has a comfortable super king bed overlooking the orchard. The main living area has bespoke furniture and french doors that open up to give you a seamless garden experience.
The outdoor bath is snuggled in to a private area off the patio. Guests report that star gazing at night away from the city lights is a highlight.
The well equipped kitchenette, with full sized fridge/freezer, allows cooking on an induction hob or microwave. Please note, no oven.
Complimentary continental breakfast awaits you for your first breakfast and always contains fresh homemade artisan sourdough bread. Nespresso machine and a French press with freshly ground locally roasted coffee is supplied.
The Webber BBQ allows alfresco cooking on the patio under the covered verandah or we can arrange a delicious grazing platter on request with some notice.
As a new purpose-built cottage the space allows you to feel safe and warm with the ducted cooling/heating system complimenting opening doors and windows.
The interior design is fresh and bespoke with most of the decor being one off pieces. With 2 smart TVs you are encouraged to BYOL (bring your own login).
A Tiltaway queen bed with hotelier mattress is available for extra guests. Extra guest fee applies.
Portable cot and/or highchair available on request for your little ones at no charge.
You will share the driveway into the property with us and then settle into your own parking space, garden and cottage.
With a 2pm check in and 11am check out, guests are encouraged to relax and de-stress throughout a contactless check in/out.
Our business model focuses on contactless and private. Put your phones down and enjoy nature.
Designated parking space is available for 2-3 cars and a garage can be available on request.
There is one step into the main entrance. If you have mobility issues, there is access through the adjoining garage that has no step. Please ask if the garage is required.
Sensor lighting ensures any arrivals in the dark have lit access to the cottage.
Rose Cottage is located on a working farm in Karaka. There are farm animals, miniature ponies and friendly dogs. We have 1 ha of covenanted native bush that is teeming with bird life and has a deep pond. Feel free to explore and please stick to the trails.

We can’t say enough about the Rose Cottage and our hosts! The cottage is beautifully decorated, immaculate and situated to provide for privacy. Michelle provided us with fresh milk and baked bread and jam! We had our own private oasis in the country with an amazing English garden right outside our door. The garden is blissful with holylhocks, roses, and many other magnificent flowers. The outside soaking tub was just what we needed after a long travel day. We appreciated that our hosts gave us complete privacy and also provided us carrots to feed to their three horses…such a delight to interact with the horses and see the chickens. We honestly couldn’t have asked for more. We have stayed at many places over the years in many countries and this was by far one of our best experiences. Thank you so much Michelle and Pete-you really made our last few days in NZ truly memorable. We hope to come back and will recommend the Rose Cottage to all of our friends who plan to visit NZ.

This cottage was lovely. The bed ultra comfortable and the shower was the best one we have had ever while visiting NZ. The outside bath tub was wonderful as the gardens with the birds and the bees.

We had such a lovely stay here — it honestly exceeded our expectations in every way. The cottage was spotless, peaceful, and incredibly well equipped, especially the kitchenette which had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The setting is absolutely beautiful. The gardens and surrounding grounds are stunning and made it feel like a proper countryside escape while still being an easy drive from Auckland. One of the highlights was feeding the ponies — such a special touch and a really memorable experience.
Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and very relaxing, and it was the perfect place to unwind. We would happily stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a calm, scenic getaway close to the city.

We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage, well appointed modern accommodation and the outdoor bath was so nice to relax in at this peaceful country cottage. Would highly recommend and would stay again. Thank you Michelle we were very happy with our stay.
