    Queenstown Central

Commonly known as "The Adventure Capital of the World", Queenstown is a resort town built around an inlet called Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown is a centre for adventure tourism such as skiing, bungy jumping, jet boating, sky diving, white water rafting, mountain biking and river surfing. The four main mountain skifields near Queenstown are Cardrona Alpine Resort, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Treble Cone. There are also many activity options on Lake Wakatipu, such as scenic lake cruises and water sports. The region is renowned for it's fly fishing for brown trout, and guided fishing tours can range from one day to multi day package tours. Scenic flights and guided sightseeing tours are also very popular. Queenstown is also a departure point for boat tours to Milford Sound.
