This itinerary incorporates only the North Island of New Zealand. The arrival point of this itinerary is Auckland where you can pick up your rental vehicle. From here, travel north through the 'winterless' Northland region to the Bay of Islands. Return back south toward Auckland and stop in to Tutukaka along the way, departure point to the Poor Knights Islands. The Coromandel Peninsula is your next stop which features stunning beaches and rainforests.
This route then takes in the Bay of Plenty on the East Coast of the North Island, then continues on to the Gisborne region, the Hawke's Bay and Taupo home to NZ's largest lake. Travel south down the centre of the island to the Rangitikei area, then on to the capital city of Wellington. From here head up to the Wairarapa region, famous for it's New Zealand vineyards. This itinerary continues on to the delightful provincial city of Wanganui before arriving in the Taranaki region which is dominated by Mt Taranaki (Mt Egmont).
This itinerary takes you through the Central Plateau region and the Tongariro National Park where you can visit Mt Ruapehu. Then travel the Waikato countryside back to Auckland to complete your trip. Auckland International Airport caters for both domestic and international travellers.
