Ohope is only ten minutes south of the Whakatane and one hour south of Tauranga. It is a popular vacation destination in summer with a long beach that is safe for swimming, and great for water sports such as surfing,boating and diving.

Ohope Beach is 11 km long, a great place for romantic walks and picnics. Horse trek and 4WD tour let you explore more of the surrounding countryside.
