The Bay is a large, deep, natural and sheltered harbor behind its 144 islands. James Cook was about to miss it! All the reefs and structures makes it a paradise even for the marine wild life! that is still healthy! Huge variety of species from marlin, tuna, hapuka out on the deep waters to kingfish, snapper, trevally, John Dory, terakihi, gurnard and more just 20-30 minutes out.
Let us share our passion with you! We are happy to tag and release! We pick up from Russell wharf, Paihia wharf and Waitangi wharf!

- NEW - A Unique Historical Tour On the Water. The most comfortable cruise in the bay. We are proud to announce that SpotX has together with Russell Museum and Kororareka Marae, created a guided historical tour out on the water. Experiencing the history from the water is something very special, it is where it all happened! Our guide on board is tangata whenua, trained by the museum and the Marae. The tour is 3.5-4 hours and guides you through the history from early settlers in Russell and out on the islands, James Cook and the first meetings between Pakeha and Maori. Further we talk about du Fresne and the life and changes on the islands. If weather permits we go all the way to the Motukokako Island (Cape Brett) telling about what role this place have had for Maori. Coming back in, we stop over in Otehei Bay for a short while. Continuing back we pass the very first Pa and slowly go pass the beautiful coast line.
