Taranaki Scenic Flights
Cape Egmont Lighthouse & Stony River Tour
Flight time – Approx 45 minutes.
No stops off. Allow 1 hour
Fly past the Sugar Loaf Islands and Marine Park, around the coastline passing Oakura while enjoying the views of Mt Taranaki and the Kaitake Ranges from the Tasman Sea. Head toward Cape Egmont Lighthouse, the western-most point of the Taranaki coast, then inland up the Stony River. Sweep over the Pouakai Ranges and fly back to New Plymouth. An amazing piece of Taranaki history in one trip.
White Cliff Beach Tour
Flight time – 40 minutes.
One stop off. Allow 1 hour.
A superb flight along the North Taranaki ocean coast to the spectacular White Cliffs. Fly along the stunning beach and soar with the gulls! Hover over the cliffs with views over the Pukearuhe Historic Reserve and view the historic fortified Pa sites. At low tide we can land and go for a short walk along the beach and visit an old stock Tunnel that was carved through the sandstone cliffs over a century ago.
Okurukuru Winery Flight
Flight time – Approx 40 minutes.
1 stop off. Allow 2 hours.
This flight is for those who want to taste the finer things in life. Fly over New Plymouth City, via the Port and Sugar Loaf Islands before heading out to Oakura. We land on the cliff top at Okurukuru Winery, allowing you the time to eat a beautifully prepared meal, with the Kaitake Ranges as your background, and the Tasman Sea as your horizon.
Mt Taranaki Volcano Tour
Flight time – Approx 50 minutes.
No stops off. Allow 1 hour.
No Taranaki vacation is complete without a helicopter ride over the perfectly shaped Mount Taranaki Volcano! We fly over the Stratford Plateau to Fanthams Peak and weather permitting we spiral around the volcano to the summit. From the summit, we swoop around Pouakai Crossing, Ahukawakawa swamp to Bells Falls and into the Stony River valley. You will still be talking about this trip long after your holiday is over!
Jurassic Waterfall Adventure Tour
Flight time – Approx 65 minutes.
1 stop off. Allow 2 hours.
A real expedition and our all-time family favourite tour! Fly along the coastline to the mouth of the Tongaporutu river, then travel inland up the Hutiwai wetland (The longest coastal wetland in the North Island.) We land at the base of the falls and there’s time for a bush walk or a swim if the weather’s good. Pack a picnic or simply enjoy the tranquillity. The rocks at the base of the falls contain ancient fossils which are truly amazing.
Mokau River Tour
Flight time – Approx 85 minutes.
2 stop offs. Allow 4 hours.
The Mokau River Tour includes the Jurassic Waterfall Adventure Tour and then on to the historic Mangatoi Station. On arrival, the pilot will take you on a tour of the abandoned woolshed, village and coalmines. This place just breathes history! Pack a picnic lunch and the pilot will boil the billy! Mangatoi is on the Mokau river and is a great place to kick back and relax miles from anywhere. We run a herd of 400 Angus cattle on the old sheep station and a apiary harvesting Manuka honey.
