Lake Waikaremoana is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, and the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters of the central jewel of Te Urewera. Te Urewera is an enchanted land where the very land itself has been granted its own legal personality through s11 of the Te Urewera Act 2014. The concept of te whenua (the land) being able to protect itself from those who would do it harm is an intriguing concept - one which resonates with many First Nations peoples and those who have an interest in eco-justice or protection of ecosystems and the environment generally. Consider staying two nights or more, and also take in the Mahia Peninsula (a renowned surfing area), Morere Hot Springs, and other scenic wonders of Wairoa district.
Your Hosts
Fergus and Tri are extensively tavelled and know precisely what makes a B&B stay both pleasureable and memorable.
For those will allergies - please note that this property has two cats.
Regrettably, as this is a working farm property, dogs cannot be accommodated. However, a very pleasant kennel facility is only 5km away should you require this.
