Set Tours
Hobbiton Movie Set and Farm Tour
- We take you to Hobbiton via the Kaimai Ranges road calling into a Kiwifruit Farm, Honey Shop and a drive through Matamata, a cute little farming community close to Hobbiton. You will be picked up by bus from Shires Rest and transported over to the Movie Set while we wait for your return to continue your day excursion.
- You will spend about 2-3 hours there before we make our way to McLarens Falls Park, McLaren Falls Park is 190 hectares of parkland set alongside Lake McLaren and is just ten minutes by car, from Tauranga. The park is popular for camping, fishing, kayaking, disc golf course, wedding photos, picnics, bush walks and summertime concerts.
- It is also home to one of the best botanical collections of trees in New Zealand. One of the highlights of the park is the waterfall track where you can see glow worms after dusk. Enjoy a short, easy stroll to the picturesque waterfall and spot the glow worms on either side of the track. Part of the waterfall track is also wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly.
Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is one of Rotorua’s iconic geothermal attractions. It’s vibrant geothermal activity, central North Island location and proximity to a major tourism city combines to provide students with easy accessibility to a multi-layered out-of-town field study and a positive learning experience.
In addition to a regular guided tour option, our knowledge guides can also (on request) concentrate on specific geographic, tourism or sustainable aspects of the park to enhance the discovery process and meet curriculum needs.
From customised education packages and targeted work sheets through to providing a breakdown of Health and Safety policies, the team at Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland can take care of everything, leaving teachers free to assist students.

You will be taken to Te Puia Geothermal where the Pohutu Geyser (only one in the Southern Hemisphere ) erupts and it is the Maori Arts and Crafts centre of New Zealand.

As well as a scenic, interesting drive to both of them there will be stops at lookouts, driving through gorges,viewing lakes, rivers and Geothermal activity bubbling out of the ground beneath your feet.

At Hobbiton Movie Set you will be treated to a fully guided walk by an experienced guide, a free drink (your flavor of course) a short bus trip to the set and returned where we will be waiting for you.

Then we will take you back to your ship or to the shops which are 10 minutes walk to your ship.
Rotorua Highlights and Attractions Excursion
- This is our most popular tour as we visit interesting attractions such as Comvita New Zealand and a working Kiwifruit Farm on the way, free tastings are available. Find out why this region has such a mild climate and why it is one of the most desirable area's to live. Lakes and Streams, waterfalls on the way which well impress you. From here we will travel to Rotorua to start the second part of your tour.
- Here you will find a lot of interest in our history and belonging, Cultural performance, Arts and Crafts,Pohutu Natural Geyser (Unique in NZ) the Geothermal landscape, native plants, our very own Kiwi Bird, traditional cooking of Kai (food ) using the power from the thermal activity. You can taste our Hangi (earth oven cooked) food. Small charge for this. Once you have seen all you want to see come and meet us at a point discussed before you began you stroll.
- Te Puia is one of Rotorua’s most iconic geothermal attractions. It’s vibrant geothermal activity, central North Island location and proximity to a major tourism city combines to provide students with easy accessibility to a multi-layered out-of-town field study and a positive learning experience.

- After leaving Te Puia, we will take you for a drive through Rotorua city showing you a number of truly interesting sights.You will see some of the best Lakes, Forests and Parks in New Zealand and see how the locals have adapted their lives to being among the geothermal activity. The scenery in Rotorua Lakes District is impressive. The variety of attractions make it easy to have a great day.
- Then we take you back to your ship or to the shops, 10 mins walk away from your ship.
Waitomo Glow Worm Caves and Otorohanga Kiwi / Bird Sanctuary
- On this tour we first visit the Waitomo Caves for a 1-2 hour guided tour through the Glow Worm Caves put on a great show for you when they surround you. This will intrigue you as to the silence there which is astounding. You will be taken through the caves by an experienced Guide. We suggest you wear covered footwear as the track is a little slippery in places.
- When your tour is complete we will meet you back at the Entrance/Ticket Office.
- If you wish we will take you to the Kiwi House in Otorohanga where you will see our native birds,(Kiwi Bird and Kereru pigeon), animals and reptiles in their natural habitat. This walk which is disability friendly could take up to an hour and half to complete but there is no time pressure.
- There are a number of other scenic sights to see either on the way there or on the return.
- We return to Tauranga by the scenic route through some small townships and dairy farmland and also visiting lakes etc and with time permitting a drive through our beautiful city.
