Cycle Trails in New Zealand
The New Zealand Cycle Trail project is a New Zealand government initiative, co-funded together with local councils and charitable trusts, which is to build and operate a network of cycle routes through the country.
There are many great cycle trails to choose from all over New Zealand. From the top of the North Island, down to the bottom of the South Island cyclists can enjoy over 2500 km's of pristine cycleways with 23 Great Rides throughout the country.
Cycling through New Zealand gets you up close to the countrys diverse landscapes; from white sandy beaches to rugged mountain terrain. New Zealand is a cycle tourer's paradise with so much historical sites and interesting stops along the way.
There's no need to bring your bike with you. You can rent your wheels from a cycle shop or bike hire operator.
