We'll leave Tauranga by 7.00am, and have a short comfort stop at Bombay, before heading to the wonderful Sculptureum, Matakana.
The Sculptureum Experience is made up of three sculpture gardens and six art galleries spanning over 1.5 km of flat paths. The private collection includes over 700 works of art by local and international artists. From live rabbits to the grand Chihuly glass chandelier and everything in between, you are guaranteed to find inspiration around every corner during your visit to this immaculately kept attraction. We visited this venue on our Far North Winery Tour & clients loved it. Their only complaint was that they needed more time,so we'll rectify that this time.
You can lunch (at your own cost) in Rothko Restaurant if you wish or take a picnic lunch to have in the beautiful grounds.
Our accommodation is at Matakana Motel in the heart of Matakana Village. Paul and I will be crossing to the Matakana Market Kitchen for dinner; you are welcome to accompany us or to eat elsewhere (or in your unit)
On Saturday we will have time at Matakana's Farmers' Market before heading to Morris & James Pottery. We will lunch at one of our favorite venues, Plume at Runner Duck Winery. A visit to Puhoi Cheese will be enjoyed en route for home.

Winery Tours - There's something really special about visiting the terroir where grapes are grown & hearing the passion in the wine-maker's voice as he explains the special characteristics of his wines.
NZ wines are stunning and it's well-worth travelling to experience & savour them. Come on one of our regional winery tours or choose the destination yourself for your group & we'll suggest venues for your consideration. We guarantee you'll have a great time! A full itinerary is available on request for all of our winery tours. We prefer to take a maximum of 14 clients, as we find that larger groups prevent people from feeling involved and having a truly worthwhile, personal experiemce. Also, some tasting rooms have difficulty with accommodating large groups.

We will send a suggested itinerary, with costs, for your perusal. Although our set tours travel ex-Tauranga for exclusive specially requested tours we can pick your group up/return you to other points such as Auckland International Airport. Matakana, Kumeu, Hawke's Bay, Martinborough, Nelson, Marlborough, The Far North, Christchurch, Otago. You name the tour you want & we'll send you a suggested itinerary!
Celebrations for Friends & Family - Let us supply transport and arrange venues for your family celebration your Hens’ Party your business Social Club outing. It’s always enjoyable to celebrate together as a group in a relaxed & convivial atmosphere. We can ensure that your outing is tailored to your specific requirements relating to venue time constraints and budget. Transport is door-to-door.
Waitomo - Discover an underground labyrinth of ancient limestone caverns and formations. Expert guides will give you interesting and informative details on the historic and geological aspects of the caves. In the Glow-worm Grotto, you will see Arachnocampa Luminosa, which is unique to New Zealand. This approximately six-hour shore tour leaves the Port of Tauranga or local accommodation and travels over the Kaimai Range, through the verdant Waikato District (New Zealand’s top dairy farming area) and the historic rocks of the Hinuera Valley. A stop is made at the karapiro Lookout above Karapiro Lake.
On arrival at Waitomo, you will discover an underground labyrinth of ancient limestone caverns and formations. Enter “The Cathedral” which has such excellent acoustics that the Vienna Boys’ Choir has recorded there. Expert guides will give interesting & informative details on the historic & geological aspects of the caves. This is followed by a boat trip into the famed Glow-worm Grotto where you will see the NZ native Arachnocampa Luminosa. The kiwi House in Otorohanga is visited on the return trip, which covers a different route & crosses the Arapuni Dam. Lunch can be purchased at your own cost and en route. Tour duration is approximately 6 hours.
Rotorua - Just one hour from Tauranga City, Rotorua is the heart of Maori culture and a geothermal wonderland. With its thermal springs, boiling mud pools, steaming fissures and geysers, Rotorua, nestled among crater lakes of crystalline colour and clarity is a 'must see'! Here in Rotorua, you can experience indigenous culture with a Maori Welcome and concert. You can also see traditional crafts such as flax-weaving and wood-carving which have been passed on through the generations at Te Puia, Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. If seeing a real life kiwi (bird) is on your New Zealand bucket list, Rotorua is the place to tick that off too.
For the adventurous, enjoy the adrenaline rush of some of the exciting activities available with whitewater rafting, the swoop, the luge, and the freefall, to mention but a few. For a relaxing time in Rotorua, you can't go past a soak in the waters of the Polynesian Pools. Take a trip back in time at the Bathhouse or if visiting a working farm is high on your agenda, view the world famous Sheep Show at The Agrodome.
