Winter hoilday Rotorua
Arriving in Rotorua As it was too early to check in to our motel.
So we went straight out to the Kaituna Jet
. We got geared up in our life jackets and jumped in the jet boat. What a blast flying down the river at a great rate of knots sidling round corners and doing massive spins the kids and even the wife and the 4 year old loved every minute of it .After about 40 minutes we climbed off the boat and took some great photos It was excellent fun. As the day was getting on and we had not had any lunch we made our way to the Landing Café situated on the edge of Lake Tarawera, which is one of a few lake side dining options available within the Rotorua region. The owner and chief Peter is a real character and a bloody good chief to boot We had a great meal and some drinks and enjoyed the views over lake Tarawera SO with a full stomach it was now time to burn of some off that great lunch So it was off to Agro adventure in Rotoura
The first thing we tired was the Shweeb Where you lay down in a capsule with peddles like a bike and race the guy on the other track around on a rail like a mono rail peddling hard out for three laps. My 13 year old went in his own capsule But I had to put my 4 years old on my lap and my other boy rode tandem in the back capsule .Talk about hard work mate after three laps my 13 year old beat me by half a second a close run thing but I was towing the other capsule and had a four year old on my lap and he has 37 years on me as well so that is my excuse .But any way it was a great laugh and it gave him bragging rights for the rest of the trip .So next up was the Agro jet Which are like the sprint jets you see on TV . They spin around a small circuit going like the clappers its a real buss
The boys said it was the best of all the activities at the park So after a day of full on adventure we check in to the Ambassador Thermal Motel right in the city. A great motel .It had excellent facilities and a nice couple running it. The room were great. Nice and warm on arrival and they had three pools. one real hot thermal hot pool and a outdoor spa and outdoor full sized heated swimming pool. The kids loved it
So after that it was time to head out for dinner. At the lake end of Rotorua on Tutanekai street they have closed off the main street to traffic and set up a nice little dining area with bars and clubs as well . We had a great meal and a few drinks and then took the boys back to the motel with the baby sitter. Then went back for a couple of drinks in one of the very cool blues bars .
The next morning we went back to Tutaneki street for a great breakfast and then it was off to the Zorb where they put you in a giant inflatable ball and then roll you down the Hill. Great fun .Then back to Agro adventures to have a go on the free fall which is like sky diving but over a big jet of air that holds you up and you float around. It is a blast
We then checked into the Holdens Bay Top ten holiday park which had great facilities for the kids ,play ground and games room and a nice spa which we were able to use once the kids had gone to sleep . The next morning we got up nice and early for our drive back to Auckland
What a great trip
