About Akaroa
Akaroa has a rich French influence from the history of French colonists in the 1800’s. Today that influence remains with the many French street names, architecture and café’s being a highlight of the town. Akaroa is based around a harbour which is home to Hector dolphins and other wildlife.
A special feature of Akaroa is “blue pearls” farmed from New Zealand’s abalone shellfish, the Paua, which are incorporated into beautiful jewellery.
