Waimarama
is a luxury private lodge on the banks of the Tongariro River in
the central North Island of New Zealand. The lodge is available
to single parties as a self-catering accommodation rental.
Waimarama Lodge
offers superbly appointed accommodation for up to 8 people at a
time in one of the original riverside homes of the region. Waimarama
is situated overlooking the Major Jones and Breakfast fishing pools
on the Tongariro River and guests seeking fine trout fishing can
be on these magical reaches of the river within minutes of arrival.
Waimarama is
also ideally located for those who seek the alpine challenges of
the nearby central North Island ski fields on Mount Ruapehu. Alternatively,
it provides a wonderful base for those wishing to walk the renowned
Tongariro Crossing, and do any number of other attractions that
are available on and around neighbouring Lake Taupo.
So, whether
you are an avid angler pursuing that elusive Rainbow Trout, or looking
for a family base during the ski season, or interested in entertaining
select business associates with something a little different, or
simply looking for an ideal spot to relax with music and a good
book in the library or the garden.
Accommodation
Waimarama Lodge, Tongariro, is available to single parties as
a self-catering vacation rental and can accommodate up to 8 people
at one time. Luxury accommodation is provided in the main house
of the Lodge and a cottage situated in the gardens.
The house accommodation
consists of living room, dining room, library, kitchen, laundry,
3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The Lodge house
has a fully equipped kitchen, including a pantry stocked with base
provisions, and an extensive library. Match lined ceilings in native
Rimu timber are a feature throughout. The house features art works
by various New Zealand artists.
The cottage
was originally a pottery studio but is now furnished to provide
a romantic adjunct to the accommodation in the house. It has a large
double bed, a small kitchenette with microwave oven and a refrigerator.
The cottage has its own bathroom and shower and opens to a deck
that catches the sun most of the day. It is heated in winter by
its own open fire or by electric heater.
