The Waiatoto River Safari is New Zealand's only sea to mountain eco-jet adventure, exploring the South West New Zealand World Heritage Area, aboard a custom built Safari craft.

Experience awe-inspiring, spectacular scenery – the best New Zealand has to offer; from rugged, deserted beaches through untouched virgin forest, past water falls, (weather permitting) to soaring snowy mountains? all in one incredible journey!

Your journey will take you up the glacier-fed Waiatoto River as it makes its way through a remote alpine valley to the Tasman Sea. See why this landscape has been described as some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the world.

Through your guide, you will see and learn about the work being carried out in this area to save the endangered Haast Brown Kiwi, New Zealand's national bird.

Hear about the fascinating history of this rugged region: from Maori expeditions to find treasured pounamu, (greenstone or NZ jade) and legends of bloody tribal battles, through to the pioneering days of sealers and the hardy European settlers who tried to make their homes in the wilderness.

Experience the precise manoeuverability of our custom-built safari craft, designed and built by Jetboat.com especially for this New Zealand's wild rivers.

This is the only way to really experience this “hidden” New Zealand paradise - there are no roads, no houses, no people ? just you, your Guide and the incredible natural world that you will discover on your Waiatoto River Safari.
