White Sand Adventures is a new
service that operates on Parengarenga harbour, using a purpose built
vessel designed to manoeuvre in the shallow waters of Parengarenga
and with a fold down front for easy disembarking etc.
Passengers
board the vessel Sting Ray at Te Pua wharf and travel the short
distance to Kokota sand spit where they disembark.
Passengers
travelling on a tour visit the pure silica sands for about half
an hour before returning to Te Pua and continuing on their tour.
Passengers
travelling by themselves can catch the vessel at the same point
but may stay on the white sands for longer; they can even take a
fishing rod or picnic if they wish.
The
return trip aboard sting ray costs NZ$10.00 per person (NZ$5.00
for children) and is payable to the skipper or crew (cash only)
when they board the vessel.
