The
Shanty, as the hosts affectionately call their restored beachfront
cottage, is set in a secluded private bay on Mahurangi Harbour.
High tide comes up to the sundeck, from where guests can watch fish
jumping by day and the moonlight shining a path on the water at
night.
The
sandy tidal beach is private for guest use only, offering safe swimming
ideal for small children, fishing, kayaking, with all equipment
provided. The Shanty is suitable for families, where parents can
relax on the deck and watch their children playing safely on the
beach. Birdlife can be seen in the native bush on the 160-hectare
farm, with bush walks in the adjacent reserve. The cottage is fully
self-catering, with Warkworth township 15 minutes' drive away.
