The Te Mata Lodge itself is nestled in a sunny valley of native bush, bordered by a picturesque stream with many safe swimming holes. If you prefer the beach, it's just 10 minutes walking distance!

Te Mata Lodge is ideally situated between Thames and Coromandel. Thames Coast is famous for excellent fishing and abundant shellfish. The drive from Thames to Coromandel is one of the most scenic in New Zealand. The road hugs picturesque coastline just meters from the sea, each passing bay displaying its own unique character.

Te Mata Lodge is an ideal spot to base yourself so you can explore and relax in the peaceful surroundings. Below are some highlights

  • Riverside BBQs and secluded picnic spots and swimming holes

Facilities

Four 1 and 2 bedroom self-contained cottages

  • Accommodation for couples to extended families (up to six comfortably)
  • Peaceful and private, all with views over the river and bush
    Quality linen and bedding
  • Fully equipped kitchens
  • Satellite TV, stereo, laundry facilities
  • Tables and BBQs along river and adjacent to each cottage

Five cabins with separate facilities (sleep six)

  • Cabins have double beds and bunks, easy chairs and a table/chairs,
    polished wood floors, good lighting and each uniquely decorated.
  • A "Lounge room" with sofa, comfortable chairs, reading material and
    video is available for people staying in the cabins.
  • Toilets/showers/fully equipped kitchen (including pots and pats, crockery and cutlery) is a short walk away.

  • Cottages and chalets - $110 - $140 for couple
  • Cabins $50 per couple Extra adult $15/extra child $10
