Your
Host Fearnley Tippett has over 25 years experience with horses and
has a deep & genuine love for these amazingly kind & forgiving
creatures. At Taupo Horse Treks, we aim to provide a safe &
enjoyable experience for all who ride with us. Whether your idea
of fun, is a relaxing, quiet wonder through pine forest trails,
or a more exciting canter through the forest we endeavour to provide
either for you, in a safe and organized fashion.
HORSE
TREKS
Your trek ventures through pine forests of the Wairakei Forest,
& past the unique thermal area known as the "Craters of
the Moon". Lush native ferns with the call of the shy Tui,
make this trek a serene , relaxing and unique adventure.
The
2 hour trek includes a bush meander uphill that ends with a magnificent
view of the "Craters of the Moon" below and a breathtaking
aerial view beginning with the Waikato River and sweeping around
past Mount Tauhara to the beautiful Lake Taupo, with a glimpse of
Mount Ruepehu as a backdrop.
All
treks are guided by experienced guides, & are suitable for all
levels of experience, young and old.

HORSE
CARE
We work closely with our local vet to maintain good health for all
our horses. Fearnley, a qualified farrier takes care of our shoeing
requirements, all the horses are hot shod (the old fashioned way)
on site. If you are lucky enough to catch him on the job, during
your visit, you will find this most interesting to watch. We follow
a regular worming regime and have the horses backs attended to by
an Osteopath, when needed, to help with any muscle tension. All
our horses are loved, fed and cared for 365 days a year. On the
job, the horses welfare is 2nd only to client safety.
