Takaro is a luxury Rejuvenation Centre in the far south of New Zealand.

Rejuvenation is the natural process of becoming younger, healthier, happier and more peaceful.

Our speciality is our natural rejuvenation treatments which focus on optimising your energy and balancing your ‘elements’.

Takaro is set in a remote river valley, surrounded by millions of acres of untouched forest and mountains – the most peaceful place on earth.

Accommodation
Our 10 luxury 5-Element Chalets were designed by a Feng Shui expert to promote a sense of calm and wellbeing. Each is decorated with colours, shapes and materials appropriate to one of the Chinese 5 Elements. You choose the one you feel most comfortable with, or we can help you choose which will suit you best. Staying in one of these chalets supports you to relax and unwind quickly and sleep peacefully.

Entertain yourself with your personal surround sound cinema and our collection of DVDs and CDs; relax in the Jacuzzi bath or jet shower; or simply sit on the balcony watching the sun set over the mountains.

Our 6 Traditional Chalets are for those who appreciate simplicity and want to stay for longer periods - natural comfort, beautiful views, fresh air and peace.

Rejuvenation

  • Our aim is for every guest to be rejuvenated by the time they leave Takaro – and of course the longer you stay the more deeply rejuvenated you will be.
  • Our Rejuvenation Session is the most powerful way to achieve this. For best effect we recommend a Rejuvenation Session every day of your stay.
  • Our energy massages range from the simple Melt Away – head, neck and shoulder massage – to the extraordinary Ten Hand Energy Massage - 5 masseurs working on you simultaneously.
  • A range of classes and courses introduce you to some highly energising exercises and some of the principles of natural rejuvenation.
  • Our Life Design services help you solve problems and make decisions about your health, relationships, career and lifestyle.
  • And you can spend as much time as you like in the glass spa – with swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.
  • We also offer a range of follow up services so you can maintain your rejuvenation after you go home. We will introduce these when you come to Takaro.

Activities
Takaro is a place to immerse yourself in nature. We thoroughly recommend you explore our 2000 acre private wilderness estate, surrounded on all sides by mountains and some three million acres of World Heritage beech forest.

Take time to hike through the forest, take a picnic up the river valley, or try fishing in the river or on Lake Te Anau.

Milford and Doubtful Sounds are on our doorstep, and a trip by helicopter or light plane from our airstrip is a once in a lifetime experience.

Gourmet Dining
Our menus are based around what is available in our organic gardens each day. Rejuvenation meals are simple, delicious and use as many home produced ingredients as possible. We make our own butter, cheese and yoghurt, produce meat from our own animals and grow our own vegetables and herbs.

We recommend a variety of organic juices, smoothies and soft drinks and also have a range of fine New Zealand wines available at the bar.

Our organic herbal teas are all grown on Takaro and hand dried and blended for maximum freshness, flavour and benefit.
