Tribe are the largest group of Maori in the country. Come and
join us at Waka Taiamai Heritage Journeys on this exclusive Maori
cultural evening, offered all year round to clients visiting Paihia,
Waitangi, Russell and the Bay of Islands. With a maximum of only
6 people each evening, the experience starts from the moment you
are collected from your accommodation.

Marae visit, a traditional Maori welcome (whakatau) and a hangi
dinner culminating with a relaxing soak beneath the Northern night
sky in our Geothermal mineral pools (Ngahwa) are only some of
the special and spiritual encounters you will enjoy along the
way.

family have lived in this area for over 900 years.

Visit to Ohaeawai Pa site (Fighting fortress) where Hone Heke
(who felled the English flag pole in 1845) defeated the British
soldiers in battle. A historical site registered with the New
Zealand Historical Places Trust.

45-60 minute soak at Ngawha geothermal mineral pool. The Maori
pools of healing are renown internationally for the soothing
and healing qualities they provide to the user. These pools
are a hidden treasure right here in the heart of Taiamai.

estuaries of the Waitangi river aboard our 50 ft traditional Maori
