5 Star lodge Blenheim Marlborough New Zealand

The boutique vineyard home-stay Straw Lodge is housed in a unique eco-friendly straw-bale building nestled amongst the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vines of Barrow's Vineyard.

Situated on the world renowned wine producing river flats of the Wairau Valley it provides stylish, five star B&B and self-catering accommodation, with the option of fully hosted home-stays for individuals or small groups. This is a unique service. It combines private accommodation, a working vineyard, home-cooked and fresh home-grown produce, a taste of wine from the vineyard and the option to be advised/booked on individually designed wine, trekking, cycling, walking, fishing, skiing, discovery, craft or gourmet trails of Marlborough.

THE VINEYARD SUITES
The guest accommodation is separated from the main house in three separate private areas. The Lodge's straw-bale construction, double-glazing and wood finish provides a quiet comfort that is accentuated by quality fittings and custom designed /hand crafted furniture. The suites have vineyard settings with extensive mountain views.

Vineyard Suites 1 & 2 are located in a separate wing to the east of the main house, with the vineyard’s Sauvignon Blanc vines to the door. They have a spacious, open plan layout. The king bed can be converted into two single beds, plus a double bed/settee can be put up for extra guests. There is a lounging area with digital TV and DVD player. The courtyards of these two suites can be inter-connected.

The third suite is to the west of the main house, unconnected to other accommodation facilities and in a delightful courtyard setting, with its own car park, entrance and courtyard. It has been recently refurbished, has a Queen bed, Digital TV and a DVD player.

All suites have an ensuite bathroom, tea/coffee making facility, refrigerator, TV, CD player, writing desk, a safe, private entrances and courtyard areas. The lodge has wireless/broadband internet connection for guests’ private use. A dedicated guest lap-top is also available. Teas coffee, fruit juice and toiletries are supplied.

SHARED FACILITIES
Guests are welcome to wander through the vineyard and have free use of the large out-door spa that is set amongst the vines. There are two BBQ courtyards, one open, the other a large covered area with gas heating. The living area in the house has an open fire and a library of books, DVDs and reference material on Marlborough's attractions, history and landscapes.

There is a separate guest's kitchen/dining area that is equipped for guests who may wish to prepare their own evening meals. The orchard, garden and pottager areas provide a variety of produce throughout the year and guests are free to help themselves. Guests enjoy complimentary use of the Lodge's bikes to explore the neighbouring wineries, riverbanks, swimming holes and countryside. There is access from the vineyard to great off-road walking and cycling trails. Three sets of golf clubs are available with some wonderful courses nearby.

The Lodge's laundry facilities are available for guests' use.

THE BACH
For the complete Marlborough holiday guests of Straw Lodge now have the option of complementing their visit with a stay in their hosts' beautiful Marlborough Sounds bach. Situated in pristine Tennyson Inlet this modern holiday home will provide guests with an ideal base to explore one of the most unspoilt and spectacular areas of New Zealand.

With a grand view over the bay the bach has extensive outdoor decks and is fully equipped for a carefree and comfortable Sounds experience. It has • a modern kitchen • three private double bedrooms with linen supplied • two bathrooms • an open fire • BBQ courtyard • laundry facilities and • drive on access.

The cupboards are stocked with basic food requirements. All that guests need to bring is their fresh food and drink requirements, plus an attitude to enjoy a remote and special place.
