Hawkes Bay wine
country hosts the sunniest days in New Zealand. Napier City is located
5 minutes from the Napier Airport. Your fishing destination is a
forty five minute heritage drive to the upper high country of one
of New Zealands Native forests parks. The watershed protection
within this park supports and sustains a wild trout population where
the average size of trout is 4lb with larger trout in the 10 pound
range.
Sheep and cattle farms occupy most of this districts hill country
but the underlying heritage is informative and will delight the
curious minds of those whom wish to understand Maori and European
culture.
Within minutes of the lodge home visitors can enjoy a host of other
outdoor activities that can be added to your trip plans. Hot springs,
Rural golfing, small native bush reserve hikes to wilderness camping
and tramps. White water and river raft heritage trips, museum visits,
farm tour, deer hunting or you may simply relax at the lodge home
from your deck chair and enjoy the normal rural view of new born
lambs, cattle and sheep being mustered out front.

SURFING THE MENU IN NEW ZEALAND
The filming of the fourth series of Internationally successful Surfing
the Menu television series in New Zealand we contacted Marlene who
was highly recommended to us. Throughout the preproduction we found
her to be very professional and always to give sound and solid advice.
One of our stars was an accomplished fly fisherman and he was able
to land many good size fish which added to the excitement of the
story and filming. The second presenter had only once before fly
fished, but under Marlene;'s expert eye and tuition he too landed
some great trout and more great footage was filmed. Another aspect
that appealed to us about Marlene was her less macho attitude to
the environment as well as her connection with her Maori culture
which were keenly incorporated into our programme.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Marlene to anyone for
her knowledge, professionalismand her genuine friendly nature which
is encouraging and unfussed at all times.
