Queenstown/West Coast Touring Route Itinerary
Recommend a minimum of 10 days to complete this self-drive South Island New Zealand itinerary
This itinerary incorporates only the South Island of New Zealand. The arrival point of this itinerary is the Queenstown where you can pick up your rental vehicle. From here, take the scenic route up to the West Coast which incorporates Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika and Franz Josef & Fox Glaciers.
This route then continues on to the Nelson/Tasman region where you can include the Abel Tasman National Park in your trip. Next travel to the East Coast to Marlborough Wine Country, then visit Kaikoura, famous for whale watching, crayfish (rock lobster) and it's diverse wildlife.
Complete this itinerary in the Canterbury region. This region is one of the only places in the world where, within two hours of an international airport, you can ski at a world class alpine resort, play golf, bungy jump, go rafting, mountain bike, wind surf, whale watch and visit world-class vineyards and gardens
Both national and international flights are available from the recently refurbished Christchurch Airport.
