Woollaston Estates Winery, Upper Moutere Nelson Winery Vineyard
Woollaston Estates, located in Nelson, New Zealand's sunniest region, boasts award-winning wines, a Cellar Door with beautiful views over the vineyards, and hosts winery events such as concerts and performances.
The winery's three estate-owned vineyards are currently in conversion to organic certification under BioGro New Zealand. The vineyard sites were chosen so that the minimum of manipulation is required in order to allow the grapes, soil and climate to express their full potential. The result are award-winning wines made in a style that captures the unique terroir of the Nelson region.
Wines produced by Woollaston Estates include the Woollaston, Tussock and Mahana brands. They are produced in a four-level gravity-fed winery built into the hillside which blends into the environment with its tussock covered roof. The top three levels are dedicated to winemaking while the bottom level contains wine ageing in barrels, the bottling line, wine library and The Cellars which doubles as a winery working area and as a dramatic function room for concerts, winery events, weddings and dinners.
Woollaston Estates Cellar Door overlooks the vineyards, Tasman Bay, Nelson city and the Mount Arthur mountain range making it one of Nelson's most scenic wineries. The Cellar Door, with gallery, picnic lawn and courtyard is open year round to taste our award-winning wines, sample platters of local produce, and buy wine.

The winery complex is a beautiful place to visit, and is home to a growing and significant collection of art heralded by the bold Yantra for Mahana sculpture by Marté Szirmay at the gateway. The Gallery at Woollaston adjoining the Cellar Door hosts a changing programme of contemporary, evocative and stimulating exhibitions by national and international artists.
Woollaston Estates is a scenic 30 minute drive from Nelson city. We look forward to welcoming you at the Cellar Door to sample our award-winning wines, or attend one of our winery events.
