An historic 3000 acre East Coast Station & Homestead
One of New Zealand's historic homes “Wallingford”, built and owned by the Ormond family and purported to be the largest single storey dwelling in the southern hemisphere, accommodates both large and small groups in grand and luxurious surroundings.
The “Wallingford Homestead” surrounded by sweeping lawns, rose gardens and English Oak trees, provides a setting for your complete privacy and relaxation with the comfort, charm, hospitality and style that embodies dignified country living in the deeply rural surroundings of Central Hawke's Bay.
For corporate functions, retreats, reunions, conferences, weddings and private functions Wallingford is the ideal secluded getaway centre, fully licensed and able to cater for groups of ten to two hundred people.
The new swimming pool and pavilion complex is the perfect setting for a cocktail party. The original double grass tennis courts and croquet lawns, with golf and shooting platforms, provide for complete in house entertainment.
Centering around the homestead is “Wallingford Station”, a 3,000 acre sheep and beef cattle breeding station. The land is a mixture of fertile alluvial flats and easy rolling hill country. There are a number of farm and riverside walks including two QEII Native Bush Reserves covering 40 acres, one of them is an enjoyable and easy stroll from the Homestead.
We are located in Central Hawke's Bay among the coastal hill country typical of the North Island's East Coast and some six miles inland from the long sandy beaches of Porangahau, with it's genuine nine hole golf links, and Blackhead known for it's outstanding rock and sea fishing.
To our north within a twenty minute drive are vineyards and golf courses in abundance, and trout fishing in the well known Tukituki River. A further twenty minutes takes you to the heart of Hawke's Bay Wine Country.
Your stay at the Homestead:
You will have exclusive use of the homestead, which is secure and private, to relax and enjoy. We are used to organising for quite large groups of people. If you indicate some choices we can help plan activities to suit your budget and group. Please note, stiletto heels may not be worn at Wallingford, they destroy the wooden floors that are a feature of the homestead. As Wallingford is a quality assured farming business, pets are not allowed.
So come, relax and have fun. It is great to have visitors to share a small piece of New Zealand history and family life that many of us have been lucky enough to experience and be stewards of.

- As we are fully licensed BYO is not an option we offer. Wallingford Station is a "quality assured" farming business, please no pets.
