Breakfast can be self serve in the guest area, or join your hosts Karen and Kerry for a cooked breakfast in the dining room or on the patio - alfresco style.
Travelling with your dog? Karen and Kerry are pleased to welcome small dogs on request. Please contact us for details.
All guest rooms have their own private entry and patios.
Tairua is approx. 1 3/4 – 2 hours easy drive from Auckland Airport.
Accommodation
"The Pohutukawa room" is upstairs and overlooks our lovely grounds. This room has as super king bed, a two seater settee (which can convert to a double bed) A wonderful luxury shower, hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities, TV with Sky and DVD, wireless broadband internet access. To top it off sit on the patio with a glass of wine and enjoy the water view. The Pohutukawa room includes continental and cooked breakfast.
"The Kowhai room" is downstairs with its own patio entrance.
This room has a queen size bed, TV with Sky, wireless broadband internet access, a hairdryer, and use of the guest facilities for tea or coffee down on the lower level.
Self serve continental breakfast is included and is available in the guest lounge kitchenette. Cooked breakfast is available on request.
The Koru room - Coming soon - These two rooms share a bathroom which includes a wonderful shower, and a great relaxing spa bath. Self serve continental breakfast is included and is available in the guest lounge kitchenette. Cooked breakfast is available on request. Laundry facilities are available
Gourmet Cooking Classes at Tairua Coastal Lodge (courses change regularly. Please check our website for up to date information)
Raised in Westport on the South Island of New Zealand.
Nick loved to cook from an early age, receiving a scholarship for cooking through the Department of Maori Affairs, & trained at one of New Zealands best restaurants owned by Chef Graham Brown.
Nick traveled and worked in South Africa, Australia, France and England, while in England had the pleasure of cooking for "HRH" The Prince of Wales in Gloucestershire. His travels have provided the opportunity & experience to expand his culinary skills at all levels.
Any one interested in learning how to cook like the experts or just wanting to have a fun time cooking, organise a group of 4-8 of your friends contact Karen and tell her what style of cooking you would like to explore and we will do the rest.
Great way to catch up for the week end with friend you have not seen for a while enjoy their company while having a lot of fun in the kitchen and a wonderful dinner to finish. Have a work bonding time in the kitchen.
Also available daytime only cooking coarse 10am - 5pm with food tastings.

Chef Nick would love to cater for your private/special occassion dinner while enjoying your stay at our lodge.
Private dinner parties catered either at Tairua Coastal Lodge or in your home, food can be prepared for you to cook in your home or you can pick up or have us deliver to you. Nick can cook and serve in your home.
