Day Sailing Cruises
Join us for a relaxing and personalised Bay of Islands day sail aboard Straycat, a 10.4m very stable catamaran, based at Paihia, Northland, New Zealand.
Enjoy a scenic sightseeing tour of the Bay of Islands cruising past sandy beaches, rocky outcrops and the many varied island landscapes.
Keep your eyes open for marine wildlife such as blue penguins and perhaps a pod of dolphins and abundant bird life.
Island stop for walking, swimming in subtropical waters and snorkelling (fins, masks, snorkels and wetsuits supplied).
There is some interesting local history to be learned along with old Maori Pa sites on some of the islands and beautiful views of the surrounding Bay of Islands from high vantage points,.
We sail as much as possible and invite you to take the helm. There is plenty of space on board to relax or sunbathe.
We sail daily between the months of October through May and over the winter months on request (weather permitting, minimum of 3 persons).
Our Bay of Islands sailing cruises are popular in the summer season so we recommend booking as early as possible.
The day sailing cruises and sightseeing are suitable for small groups up to 20 passengers with a minimum of 4 people. Day sail sole charters also available.
What to bring
Swim gear - sun hat - camera - sunscreen, warm jacket and a good attitude.
Straycat Sole Charters Bay of Islands
Skippered charters sailing around the Bay of Islands are available by arrangement for groups who wish to have the boat to themselves. Our Paihia yacht charters are suitable for family groups, small weddings, conferences and business groups, or just a group of friends wanting the boat to themselves.
Day sailing cruise times (10 am - 4pm) or we can do half day charters for those with a limited time frame.

Straycat Bay of Islands Cruise includes: morning tea/coffee, home baking and freshly made picnic lunch (vegetarian or other requests catered for), use of wetsuits and snorkelling gear, island stops.

We operate daily during the summer months of October through to April and in the winter on demand with a minimum of four.
Prices Sole Charter Skippered Day Sails from Paihia Wharf
Christmas Day/Statutory Holidays $1,200 NZ
Normal Days between Christmas/New Year $1,000 NZ
All other days in the Summer season $800 NZ
These prices are for the boat plus skipper. If more than 10 passengers a crew member (deckie) will be provided. Platters or picnic style lunch provided in price.
The half day sailing from Paihia Wharf is for a four hour duration and can be arranged depending on requirements.
