The Pelorus Lodge experience begins when you enter the 30 acre woodland property where New Zealand native trees, flaxes, grasses and ferns flourish in the shelter of tall Claret Ash and Tasmanian Blackwood trees. Water splashes over large rocks as you pass through a ford, with waterfall and pond framed by native wetland plantings.

Entering the lodge building, you are surrounded by lush plant growth with the sound of water cascading over a local Pukaka rock waterfall. Greens, tartan and a rustic mix of furniture and fine objets d'art in the Pelorus Lounge create a peaceful, luxurious and relaxing ambience with panoramic views across the Pelorus estuary and native bush-clad hills beyond.

The moods of the estuary and marshland provide an ever-changing picture. Sink back into soft leather couches by the large fireplace and enjoy the myriad reflections of the clouds and sky on an in-coming tide; swans, herons, ducks and teal feed from the abundant marshland when tides recede.
