Mount Nicholas Lodge, Queenstown Luxury Farm Accommodation
Discover Mt Nicholas Lodge - A genuine homestead accommodation experience at the heart of a New Zealand high country station on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
Mount Nicholas Station - a New Zealand family owned, fully operational High Country Sheep Station - lies at the foot of the Southern Alps, Fiordland National Park to the west and the spectacular, clear waters of Lake Wakatipu immediately below the lodge to the east. Nestled within this breath-taking panorama is Mt. Nicholas Lodge - a destination which offers a unique and memorable experience of the New Zealand high country.
At over 100,000 acres, Mt. Nicholas is the largest station on the lake. The 27,000 merino sheep produce some of the world's finest quality wool fibre, the majority of which is used in the production of the iconic “Icebreaker” range of high quality, natural fibre garments.
Several hundred Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Chamois and Himalayan Tahr can also be found on the slopes of Mt. Nicholas, providing an extraordinary environment for the photographer or hunter. And with the Von River running across the station, this is a world famous trout fishing destination - rainbow and brown trout are abundant in both the lake and rivers.
Whether you're looking for a secluded private destination in which to relax, or are keen to actively experience the New Zealand outdoors - tramping, hunting, or fishing - Mt. Nicholas Station and Lodge provide an unparalled environment and experience. You won't want to leave.
New accommodation coming October 2012!
THE LODGE
The character of the lodge at Mt. Nicholas is an extension of the natural surroundings. Nestled in a secluded and private setting, the 80 year old lodge has been adapted from the property's original homestead, offering all the comforts of home with almost every window providing a spectacular view. The rolling lawns, large flagstone paved verandas and mature garden setting all add to the unique environment.
As a guest you will enjoy a friendly, family like atmosphere and be served the very best of local produce, much of which is grown (or raised) on the station itself. The hearty breakfasts, gourmet lunches and traditional evening meals, as prepared by Adrienne in the large country style kitchen, will be sure to satisfy every appetite. Her expert knowledge of New Zealand wines will ensure the dining experience is complete.
The Accommodation
The lodge has three separate bedrooms, one with an ensuite, two with separate bathroom facilities; the maximum number of guests at any time is five single guests or three couples. If complete privacy is required, a single party can be accommodated by special arrangement.
Breakfast and lunch, often informal, is served in the large family kitchen, while evening dining in the lounge, with its spectacular views and large roaring fire, is intimate and relaxing.
Because Mt. Nicholas Station only caters to small numbers, you are guaranteed that your stay will be personalised to suit your individual requirements.
