Kowhai Farm in Canterbury New Zealand is a great place to spend some time if you are interested in horse riding.

Horse Trekking: Come for a half day horse trek at Kowhai and you can enjoy riding a well schooled horse with an experienced instructor.
Enjoy walking, trotting and cantering. (expect 1.5 - 2 hours trekking – allow 3 hours total).
Day Tours: While staying in Canterbury you can spend a full day on our farm, we will collect you from your accommodation around 9:00am (in a fully licenced passenger service vehicle). Upon arrival you can have a cup of tea or coffee and meet your riding instructor for the day. You can then help with grooming and saddling your horse followed by a one and a half hour riding lesson. Enjoy eating lunch with our family in the homestead. After lunch you will go on a scenic farm trek on our farm with views over the Canterbury plains. After your ride you can have tea or coffee then depart back arriving around 5:30pm
Kids Courses: Kowhai's weekend and School Holiday courses are a great alternative to private horse ownership, with courses every weekend throughout the year, low cost, bus from Christchurch* and quality instruction, no wonder so many young people choose to ride regularly at Kowhai.
Riding Lessons: Lessons are available from complete basics to Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country for advanced riders.
Beginner lessons are ideal for first time riders or nervous riders.
Farmstay Holidays: Come and stay on our farm in the Canterbury foothills, enjoy riding a well schooled horse with a professional instructor. We can collect you from Christchurch city or the airport and take you to our farm. You can stay from 1 night to 3 months in a private cabin with all bedding, TV, tea & coffee facilities provided. All meals are included, eaten in the homestead with our family. Evenings can be spent relaxing in our large sitting room with A/C, Sky TV and guests internet PC. Enjoy a mix of horse riding lessons and guided farm trekking to suit.
