Daily scenic cruises, private boat charters, trout fishing tours, guided hiking, hunting excursions and guided bike tours are just some of the activities they have on offer.

All four of our launches include outstanding facilities for entertaining, relaxing and of course trout fishing. The Chris Jolly Outdoors team have extensive knowledge of the Taupo area and surroundings and ensure visitors have the experience of a lifetime.

Daily scenic cruises
Scenic cruises run twice daily 364 days a year. Cruising around the northern bays of Lake Taupo and continuing to the Maori rock carvings, take in the historical points of interest around the lake with a full running commentary. Relax with a free tea/coffee and home baked muffin while you cruise the lake in style and comfort. Departure times are 10.30am and 1.30pm for a one and a half hour cruise. On Sundays the scenic cruise offers a sumptuous brunch with a full English breakfast option.

Private fishing charters
Chris Jolly Outdoors’ has four fully appointed launches for fishing, cruising, weddings, conferences, incentives and social functions. Cruise the stunning bays of Lake Taupo and try your hand at trout fishing. Local trout is not sold commercially in New Zealand – the only way to taste it is to catch it yourself. Any trout caught can be barbequed or prepared sashimi style on board. All launches come complete with galley so you can enjoy gourmet food on board – from canapés to a 3 course meal!

Fly fishing
Chris Jolly’s specialist fly fishing guides have the knowledge and expertise to show the experienced angler how and where to find some fabulous trout. Fly fishing lessons are available for the novice angler and helicopter wilderness fishing into the remote mountain rivers is a fantastic option for the more experienced fisherman.

Hunting
Chris Jolly operates a hunting lodge in the Wairarapa offering some of New Zealand's best free range Red deer hunting. Hunter’s and nature lovers alike come from all over the world to experience deer stalking on over 20,000 acres of bush and open country. Packages are inclusive of guiding, accommodation, meals, pre dinner drinks and transfers from the station. There are no trophy fees. There are also Taupo hunting options available for Red, Sika, Fallow deer and turkeys.

Guided hikes
The history of this volcanic region combined with the stunning scenery, crystal clear rivers, a huge lake and strong Maori culture make it one of the most interesting areas for walking and hiking. Concession permits issued by the Department of Conservation support professionalism, safety training and experience of Chris Jolly Outdoors and our guides. Learn about the many native birds, and flora from our knowledgeable guides. We offer an excellent selection of picturesque full and half day guided hikes for all fitness levels. Transfers to and from accommodation is included.

Guided Bike Tours
Stunning native bush and lake views galore make the Taupo area the perfect setting for bike tours. Packages are available to suit every fitness level and time constraint. Bike tours can be packaged with a private charter so guests can enjoy a sumptuous lunch and some trout fishing on their return home. Late model mountain bikes, helmets and water bottles are all supplied. Transfers to and from accommodation is included.

Combination packages

Kinloch to Kawa Kawa Bay Hike then Boat Cruise
You will be met at your accommodation and transferred by 4 wheel drive to the start of the walk at Kincloch Bay. From here you will enjoy a 2 hour spectacular hike through native NZ bush. On arrival at Kawa Kawa Bay your charter launch will be waiting and a sumptuous lunch onboard beckons you. On the transfer back to Taupo you will enjoy some trout fishing and view the Maori rock carvings.

Chris Jolly Outdoors selection of well appointed launches provide an excellent option to conference & meeting planners for water based activities and meetings while taking in the magnificent Great Lake Taupo and surrounding landscape. Our combined launches have the capacity to cater for up to 140 guests and make ideal venues suitable for a wide range of functions including scenic cruises, private fishing charters, strategy meetings, Christmas parties, themed dinners and luxury partner excursions. Sound systems with microphones and televisions/dvd players are available on board.

Dinner cruises to compliment your 'On Shore' Event
Let us provide some great entertainment for your group to compliment your 'on shore' event. We can cater for up to 140 delegates for a dinner cruise & party - a fun and memorable alternative to eating in a restaurant.  Chris Jolly Outdoors is renowned for hosting fabulous corporate functions whether it is a lunch time event or an evening cocktail party/dinner with dancing. Our team can theme any parties or product launches and we can incorporate activities such as trout fishing, skeet shooting, water sports and even karaoke.
