Be captivated by this unique part of New Zealand, the Otaki Gorge is only a stones throw from Wellington or Palmerston North.

All adventures are half day activities and take around 3 hours to complete, after an initial briefing at our riverside base, where there are toilet and changing facilities, your adventure begins.

All adventures are within 10 minutes drive. Water activities finish right on our doorstep!

At the conclusion of your adventure enjoy our river base, with amenities like the swimming pool (summer only) and barbeque facilities, and amazing river views.

Water Based Adventures:

• Rafting - Raft the scenic Otaki River, classed as a Grade 2 river it is fun for the whole family to enjoy. Make your own fun with our qualified guides, take control of a raft, swim the rapids, find a rock to jump off, experience the waterfall in all its power, or simply sit back and enjoy the view, just remember if you splash expect to get splashed back!
• Night Rafting - If you’ve tried it with the lights on, or your ready for that little bit more, come and visit us at night, we will be guided by the glow worms that line the banks and the sounds of the approaching rapids. Otherwise not many changes from a rafting trip in the daytime, you may still get the chance to swim rapids, jump off things, and more…
• Tubing - Yet another way to explore the Otaki River (Grade 2), you choose the section of river that’s right for you and off we go. Your instructor will be able to give you guidance on technique and safe lines down the rapids.

Land Based Adventures:

• Climbing / Abseiling - We’ll head over to the rock and choose climbs that suit you, there’s climbs to suit most. Ranging from a nice slab area to the arête (corner) and then there’s the overhang if you dare! To finish off try a 12 metre abseil back down over the overhang.
• Challenge Ropes Course - Experience the highs and lows of the ropes course, try elements such as "the beam", "the centipede" or "the pamper pole". A great team building day out or a blast with a few mates.
• Day walks - Take a stroll with one of our guides, its only a short drive from our base to Otaki Forks and the Tararua Forest Park. Your guide will be able to tell about the local area, including the local fauna and flora, you may even be able to sample some of the delights growing in the bush. There are lots of options on routes and things to see on the way, so all you need to do is tell us what you want!
