The best base for exploring the Fiordland region is the attractive resort town of Te Anau. A 5 minute walk from town centre, Birchwood Cottages is a secluded getaway within easy access of all the amenities of the town and the beauty of Lake Te Anau. From here it is an easy two hours drive to Milford Sound and twenty minutes drive to Lake Manapouri and the start of a Doubtful Sound excursion. The road to Milford Sound is considered to be one of the world's finest alpine drives.

1 bedroom cottages
We have 2 x 1 bedroom 4 Star Plus Qualmark rated cottages. The separate self-contained units feature distinguishing modern styling and are secluded and private. They are fully furnished and fully serviced, and include a queen bedroom with ensuite, open plan lounge and modern kitchen, bathroom, private deck, full heating facilities and Sky TV.
The units are sheltered and separated from one another, situated in amongst the native flora.
The private, fully furnished, self-contained cottages each contain all the amenities of home. Each cottage has been decorated to a high-standard in modern stylings and the queen bed can be split into two single beds if desired.

Each 3 bedroom cottage is fully self contained and has beds for 6 people.
They are on the Birchwood property and the off road position assures your quiet privacy. Guests have the use of our play ground equipment (there is plenty of space to kick a ball around). We are pet friendly.

There is a washing machine and drying facilities. Each cottage has a full oven, fridge-freezer, microwave oven. Linen, towels etc are part of the accommodation. Free view TV (12 channels), separate toilet and the bathroom has shower over bath with heat extractor etc. The BBQ and outside furniture is exclusive to the cottage. Extra car parking is available for families with boats etc. Our nearby office is available for you to make any phone calls. Calls to Australia and New Zealand are Free. Wireless internet is available for a small fee at the Birchwood Office. We also have a computer in our office for guests use.
We make transport to and from the nearby walking tracks and make parking available when required. If you are planning to come here by coach etc we can supply transport in and around Te Anau.
We can do transport from the Queenstown airport if required.
A quiet tranquil atmosphere and lovely natural setting offers the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway minutes from Te Anau and the Fiordland World Heritage National Park.
Come and make us your base after skiing in Queenstown, and visit magical Milford Sound, take a short drive to Lake Manapouri and visit the underground Power Station or do the wonderful day cruise to Doubtful Sound and experience New Zealand's wilderness.
