New Zealand Heritage & History
Travel Guide to New Zealand historical places and museums. Places of historical interest in New Zealand, Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, historic homes and heritage sites in New Zealand. Pioneer villages, NZ history tours.
Many historic places of interest in New Zealand hold stories of the first NZ settlers and the early history between Maori and European settlers, including the history of the Treaty of Waitangi where the document was signed in 1840 between Maori and the British government, and the history of New Zealand's Maori wars. Early pioneer history includes goldmining in NZ and the early European settlements, as well as memorals for New Zealand war veterans. A lot of these museums and sites are located in both the North and South Islands.
