Goat Island Marine Reserve is the world's first temperate water, fully protected Marine Reserve. Covering 5 km's of shoreline and encompassing 500 hectares. Its protected environment has seen a dramatic increase in marine life, attracting thousands of visitors from around the globe annually. Goat Island itself, situated just 100 meters of shallow sea water north of the white sand beach, can be reached easily by swimmers, snorkellers, scuba divers and kayakers. We offer a variety of options to suit every experience level, you can hire or purchase all your equipment from our store and snorkel from the safe beach access or choose to join our Guided Snorkel Tour (2 hours) under the supervision of our dive masters. Discover an abundance of New Zealand marine life and enjoy the experience of being surrounded by schools of playful fish. Is it on your wish list to begin or advance your scuba diving experience, Goat Island Dive & Snorkel offers several PADI dive courses. Option of ½ day or full day Try Dives or Learn to Dive on one of our 4 day Open Water courses. Our experienced instructors are readily available to guide you through and introduce to the underwater world.
