Historic West Coast Hotel, restored as superb backpacker accommodation

Neptune’s is a beautiful historic hotel in Greymouth, South Island, New Zealand. It was built in 1905 and has been superbly restored in a nautical theme. Visitors cannot help but be impressed. The views from the balcony are breathtaking especially during the wonderful West Coast sunsets.

Your hosts Craig and Kat are Kiwi born and bred and therefore can provide reliable and honest information on just about anything within the South Island. Experienced travellers themselves, they aim to provide a hostel with home comforts and a warm welcome.

FACILITIES

  • A new, modern kitchen is well equipped. Free tea, coffee and cooking herbs are available.
  • The large bar-room has been renovated into a comfortable and cosy lounge room with Sky TV, free pool table and darts. Quick 24hr internet - telephone also available. A wonderful fire provides heat and ambiance during those winter months.
  • Bubblebaths – have you missed one of these on your travels? We have two in the hostel so come and soak your tired muscles in a free bubblebath. A unique coal-fire heats the plentiful water supply in order that everyone can enjoy a hot bath or shower.
  • A fabulous courtyard with free spa pool & BBQ flows outside from the kitchen. Relax in or out of the spa in the all day sun (no, its does not rain all the time!). If you wish to cook your own meal use of the BBQ is free, alternatively the Railway Hotel boasts a fantastic $5.00 all-you-can-eat BBQ every evening. Hungry travellers may enjoy a wonderful meal and a great night to go with it.
  • Secure off-street parking is provided behind hostel. Lock-up available for cyclists.
  • Laundry facilities are available – washing machines, dryers, pegs, and washing line for those magical sunny days.
