Chamber
of Commerce Taranaki Tourism Award winner
Kingfisher
Cottage was relocated to its present site on the Skeet Road in the
heart of South Taranaki from beside the former Matapu Store in October
2000.
A
total refurbishment of the cottage was undertaken by the owners
with careful consideration to retain as much of the original features
and character, while incorporating modern conveniences to enhance
the comfort of our guests.
Our
self-contained Kingfisher Cottage is nestled in the sheltered bend
of the Mangatoki Stream. Totally private, its beauty is enhanced
in the two hectare property by the surrounding native bush and rural
farmland.
The
extensive decking encourages relaxation, alfresco dining and much
room for entertainment. Spectacular views, clean country air and
native bird song all contribute to this truly unique setting.
Winding
pathways through gardens of native flora and fauna entice the guests
down to the banks of the stream to retreat and relax to the lull
of running mountain water.
The
Mangatoki Stream is the home of the brown trout with the season
being October to April .
The
novelty of the firepit enables cooking of the fresh catch or local
seafood.
Fine
all cotton linen is used in Kingfisher Cottage which provides self-catering
accommodation for up to four persons with a fully-appointed kitchen,
barbecue and gas heating.
