Cruise Te Anau
is a small, locally owned company specialising in boutique personalised
cruises. Lake Te Anau is the largest lake in the South Island, and
second only within New Zealand to Lake Taupo in the Noth Island.
Te Anau offers
accomodation and rest to weary visitors with a scenic two hour drive
between Te Anau and Milford Sound.
Owner/Skipper
Peter Kirker has spent many years on and about Lake Te Anau and
the Fiordland National Park area.
Peter holds
a Commercial Launch Operators Licence so his experience is available
for your enjoyment and discovery of this expansive and beautiful
location.
MV Carousel
Motor Vessel Carousel is a classic handcrafted 45
foot (13 metre) carvel planked kauri motor vessel built and equipped
to strict New Zealand Marine Department specifications. Carousel
was built in 1968 by renowned New Zealand boat builders, Oliver
& Gilpin, she spent many years game fishing in the waters of
the upper North Island. Peter purchased the vessel in 2004 and transported
her to Lake Te Anau where she has had an extensive refit.
Carousel has
accommodation for 8 guests in 2 communal bunkrooms. Features include
shower, toilet, hot & cold pressure water, fridge/freezer,
and full cooking facilities.
Carousel is
powered by a Ford D Series engine and cruises at 8 knots, giving
you a relaxed, unhurried experience. Carousel has all the navigation
& safety equipment required, VHF radio, cellphone, global positioning
system, radar, sounder, compass, auto pilot, fire extinguishers,
life jackets and inflatable boat.
Day Cruise
- 2½ Hour cruises to the scenic South Fiord of Lake Te Anau
including a gentle nature/bush walk to discover the Hidden Lakes
on selected cruises. Cruise and explore Lake Te Anau's 516 kms of
usually inaccessible shoreline. Cruises Depart at 10-00am &
1-00pm & 5-00pm.
Overnight
Cruise - Join Peter aboard Carousel to experience a unique overnight
cruise on beautiful Lake Te Anau in the Fiordland National Park.
Cruise on New Zealands 2nd largest Lake and discover the hidden
Fiords and scenery of Lake Te Anau. Anchor for the night in one
of the many sheltered bays enjoying our long summer twilight evenings
with a hearty meal with fellow guests.
Trip Includes:

accommodation in Communal Bunk Rooms.

need to bring an overnight bag with a change of clothing, swimwear,

Cruises depart at 4-00pm and return at 9-30am the following day.

Walking Track
Transport - Te Anau is centrally located with coach and boat
transfers available to all major tracks in the area. Te Anau is
the ideal place to stock up on supplies for the journey ahead. There
are many options available to trampers of all levels of experience
some of the more popular tracks are the Milford, Kepler and Routeburn
tracks. Cruise Te Anau can provide transport to starting points
of these tracks.
