- PICK-UP
at 9.30am (inner city)
- Arataki
Visitor Centre and Waitakere Rainforest - Experience the clean
crisp air of the Waitakere Rainforest. Well show you Aucklands
two harbours and interesting places of the surrounding countryside
all from 450m above sea-level. Arataki meansplace
of learning in Maori - we guide you through the information
centre that is here.
- 'CraftWorld'
100% NZ handcraft - A large super
market-type shop with GENUINE NZ products. Youll have ½
hour to enjoy this store! Toilets and free tea/coffee facilities
available.
- LUNCH
(with wine/beer) is INCLUDED on the tour and is a substantial
meal from one of the many excellent restaurants in our area. For
large groups a lamb BBQ at our farm
- Wine-tasting
OPTION during Summer months (Nov - May) - Unfortunately, due
to insufficient daylight hours over the winter months, we may
have to delete this from our tour. (but
IF we are running
alright for time, we are happy to squeeze this in!)
- Honey-sampling
- BeesOnline - Enjoy honey-sampling at this acclaimed attraction.
This is an organic centre where you can experience (and purchase)
different NZ honey varieties, - including NZs most famous
Manuka honey.
- Muriwai
Beach - This wild and rugged
coastline spectacular in any weather condition, is 50km
(30miles) long, and has unique black iron-sands. Youll be
surprised how we show you just how much metal is in these sands,
- most of which are Titanium!
- Gannet
Colony - This is a world-famous
attraction: 1.3 million visitors a year! Just 40 minutes from
Auckland City is one of the very few places in the world where
the Takapu (gannet) nest on the mainland. Gannets
nest Sept Apr. At the Muriwai colony you have a gentle
walk out to viewing decks where you almost feel like you could
reach out and touch the birds as they hover overhead.
- Our
sheep farm & homestead -
Our family came to this farm in 1922. We welcome you to look inside
our home, which is a typical kiwi home. Well
show you some interesting lifestyle features and historic photos
of the area. Enjoy interacting with our many animals, and feeding
and touching pet sheep and lambs. Walk through our NZ Native garden
on the way to our woolshed (built in 1930) where there is a wool
display which outlines the wool production in NZ. Learn all about
lanolin.
- Afternoon
tea included - NZs most
famous dessert! PAVLOVA Homemade and delicious! (take home my
recipe and make this for your friends and family)
- While
at our farm, you will have the
opportunity to buy your own tree from our farm nursery. You will
receive a certificate, and a numbered tag will go on your tree.
It will be planted in our reserve and protected by approved covenants
(laws) for perpetuity (forever).
- Travel
is via our luxurious air-conditioned 11 seater mini coach.
Our vehicles are serviced regularly, and we hold all operating
licenses. We do carry coats, but advise you to bring your own
personal extras, and for your comfort it is advisable to wear
sensible walking shoes.
- DROP-OFF
approx. 5.30pm (inner city or by arrangement).
